Enjoy stunning views of the harbor and downtown skyline as we explore the hilltop Belmont area of Jeffries Point. From Greek Revival row houses, to Victorian townhouses, to turn of the century triple-deckers, the architecture of Jeffries Point tells the story of East Boston's 19th-century transformation from a sleepy harbor island to a bustling urban neighborhood.

We'll uncover this story, and explore how the built environment of Jeffries Point reflects East Boston's 180-year history of shipbuilding, immigration, and industrialization.

Beyond the Square Lecture

Attend a commemorative lecture on the Battle of Bunker Hill.

May 17, 2017
Event Date2017-05-17T19:00:00 - 2017-05-17T20:30:00

The quiet elegance of Bunker Hill Monument and Monument Square belie the bloody events that took place there on June 17, 1775.  There are many contradictions to this battle — we celebrate a battle that we technically lost, and many forget that the battle, known as the Battle of Bunker Hill was not confined to this 4-acre square atop Breed’s Hill.
Join the Charlestown Preservation Society and National Park Service as they prepare for the commemoration of the battle. Refreshments will be served.
