DORCHESTER WEATHER: a play about climate and change

DORCHESTER WEATHER is an original play about climate and change, led by Dorchester resident, Boston Artist in Residence, and theater artist Jaronzie Harris

June 30, 2023
2023-06-30T18:30:00 - 2023-06-30T21:00:00

DORCHESTER WEATHER is an original play about climate and change, led by Dorchester resident, theater artist and educator Jaronzie Harris. It is the culmination of a year-long process that engages Dorchester residents in an exploration of environmental issues that are disproportionately impacting their community.

DORCHESTER WEATHER showcases community members coming together to tell a story that raises questions at the intersection of environmental justice, neighborhood development, and social resilience. The script came to life through dialogue, workshops, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

DORCHESTER WEATHER is a product of the Mayor's Office of Arts and Culture Boston Artist in Residence program in partnership with Kathleen Hart of the City of Boston Environment Department.

There will be food, music, and interactive activities. Come share your thoughts and ideas, as we dive deep into the implications of climate change for Dorchester.

See you at the show!

Sustainability Meetup

Join Sustainable Boston and the City of Boston Environment Department to meet like-minded Bostonians and connect with sustainability resources!

May 4, 2023
2023-05-04T18:00:00 - 2023-05-04T20:00:00

Sustainable Boston warmly invites you to our Sustainability Meetup at Boston City Hall on Thursday May 4th, 6:00pm-8:00pm!

Sustainable Boston, a subcommittee of the SPARK Boston council, is collaborating with the City of Boston's Environment Department to create a space where sustainably-minded Bostonians can build their networks, share ideas, and collaborate on future projects. All are welcome to join - whether you're a subject matter expert, student, or someone that's passionate about sustainability initiatives!

There will be representatives from the Environment Department in attendance to speak on the City's current sustainability initiatives, provide informative resources, and answer questions the general public may have for the Department. Additionally, for Bostonians that are between 20 and 35 and passionate about civic engagement, there will be information provided about the SPARK Boston Council, which is now accepting applications for 2023-2024! Light fare and beverages will be provided during this event.

The event will be held in the brand new, fully-accessible Civic Pavilion located in the Boston City Hall Plaza at 1 City Hall Square, Boston, MA. Public transportation options to City Hall Plaza include the following: Green or Blue Line to Government Center station, Orange Line to State Street or Haymarket stations, Red Line to Park Street station and transfer to the Green towards Lechmere or Government Center, walk from Downtown Crossing station, and the 92 and 93 buses stop outside City Hall on Congress Street. Street parking is of course very limited, but there are parking garages nearby. The Civic Pavilion is a free-standing building with an entrance across from the Boston Public Market and next to the new plaza playground.

To learn more about Sustainable Boston and SPARK Boston and our other upcoming events/activities, please follow our social media platforms on Facebook and Instagram: @sustainablebos and @sparkbos. We hope to see you there!
