Tree removal hearing: Dudley Square

The Parks and Recreation Department will hold a public hearing on Thursday, November 1, at 10 a.m. on a request to remove eight public shade trees in the vicinity of Dudley Square in Dorchester.

    The hearing will be held by the City of Boston’s Tree Warden (or designee) in the 3rd floor Conference Room of the Boston Parks and Recreation Department at 1010 Massachusetts Avenue, Roxbury. 

    The request is to remove the trees as part of the reconstruction of Dudley Square. The trees to be removed on Warren Street include two oak trees measuring 2 inches dbh (diameter at breast height), one Linden tree measuring 17 inches dbh, one Linden tree measuring 9 inches dbh, and one ash tree measuring 7 inches dbh. The trees to be removed on Dudley Street include one oak tree measuring 2 inches dbh, one honey locust tree measuring 12 inches dbh, and one honey locust tree measuring 2 inches dbh.

    Public testimony will be taken at the hearing, or may be provided prior to the hearing in writing to the Tree Warden, Boston Parks and Recreation Department, 1010 Massachusetts Avenue, 3rd floor, Roxbury, MA 02118 or by emailing parks@boston.gov with “Dudley Tree Hearing” in the subject line.
