Acquisition
A vote to purchase for park and community preservation purposes a parcel in South Boston known as Sister Mary Veronica Park as follows: The Parks and Recreation Commission, on behalf of the City of Boston, for the community preservation purpose of providing a park, hereby authorizes the purchase, in accordance with Chapter 185 of the Acts of 1875, using Community Preservation Fund monies appropriated to the Open Space Acquisition Fund of the Parks and Recreation Department by votes of the City Council on April 12, 2022, April 12, 2023, and May 1, 2024, of the fee simple interest, inclusive of trees and structures standing upon and affixed thereto in accordance with a purchase and sale agreement with the grantor (specifically exempted from the sale are any and all stained glass and other religious artifacts located on or within the Property which shall be removed prior to the closing date), of five (5) parcels of land on the northeasterly side of West Eighth Street in the South Boston neighborhood (a/k/a “Sister Mary Veronica Park”), consisting of 4,675 square feet (0.11 acre) of open land identified in the records of the Assessing Department as Parcels 0600878000, 0600877000, 0600876000, 060087500, 0600874000 and bounded as described in a deed dated July 5, 1955 and recorded at Suffolk County Registry of Deeds Book 7073, Page 182 and a deed dated July 5, 1955 and filed as Document No. 218554 (creating Certificate of Title 59477), and to have the Interim Commissioner of Parks and Recreation enter into all contracts, agreements, or documents and execute any and all instruments as may be necessary to effect said purchase.
