ATTENDANCE
On March 28, 2025, Governor Healy approved an extension to remote and hybrid meeting options for public bodies established under Former Governor Baker's Executive Order of March 12, 2020 Suspending Certain Provisions of the Open Meeting Law through June 30, 2027. The Public Facilities Commission (PFC) will continue to conduct its meetings virtually and to ensure its public access to its deliberations through adequate, alternative means.

NAMING OF A MUNICIPAL BUILDING: Regarding the renaming of the Boston Public Library Roxbury Branch located at 149 Dudley Street, Nubian Square, Roxbury, MA.WHEREAS, Chapter 642 of the Acts of 1966 established the Public Facilities Commission in order to provide oversight and control of land and buildings used for municipal purposes; andWHEREAS, the Public Facilities Commission serves an important role in the development of the City through the approval process in the sale, transfer, and use of municipal land and buildings; andWHEREAS, the City Council passed an ordinance regarding the naming of municipal buildings on February 13, 2013, thereby amending Chapter VII of the City of Boston Code by adding section 8-11.0, entitled, "Naming of Municipal Buildings"; andWHEREAS, section 8-11.0 provides the Public Facilities Commission with exclusive authority in naming municipal buildings; andWHEREAS, on June 26, 2024 and further amended on August 28, 2024 the Public Facilities Commission voted to adopt the naming or re-naming of municipal buildings policy pursuant to the authority granted under City of Boston code, ordinances, section 8-11; andWHEREAS, pursuant to the aforementioned policy, the Public Facilities Commission received a petition from the Boston Public Library and written letter from Honorable Mayor Michelle Wu, supporting the proposed re-naming of the Boston Public Library, Roxbury Branch and requesting that said building is re-named the Shaw-Roxbury Branch of the Boston Public Library.NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED; the Public Facilities Commission, does hereby declare that said building is named the Shaw-Roxbury Branch of the Boston Public Library.
