    grant from the Boston Planning and Development Agency in an amount not 

    to exceed Four Million Seven Hundred Eighty Five Thousand Dollars 

    ($4,785,000.00) for cost related to the pedestrian improvement projects on 

    Canal Street and Thoreau Path and the bike lane connection projects 

    between Causeway Street and Commercial Street.

    1522    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the 

    amount of Five Hundred Sixty Seven Thousand Dollars ($567,000.00) in 

    the form of a grant for the FY23 State Information System Improvements, 

    awarded by the United States Department of Transportation, passed through 

    the MA Executive Office of Public Safety & Security, to be administered by 

    the Police Department. The grant will fund specialized equipment for 564 

    marked and unmarked cruisers to implement the Motor Vehicle Automated 

    Citation and Crash System in Boston. The eCitation technology issues 

    electronic traffic citations which can be printed out in the police cruisers.

    1523    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the 

    amount of Ninety Thousand Dollars ($90,000.00) in the form of a grant, for 

    the FY22 Composting and Food Waste Reduction Pilot Projects, awarded 

    by the US Department of Agriculture/Natural Resources Conservation to be 

    administered by the Public Works Department. The grant will fund the 

    planning process for a permitted site in the City of Boston with the capacity 

    to accept food scraps and soiled paper.

    1524    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the 

    amount of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) in the form of a grant for the 

    FY23 National Violence Death Reporting System, awarded by the MA 

    Department of Public Health to be administered by the Police Department. 

    The grant will fund data collection by the Bureau of Investigation Services 

    and the Drug Control Unit.

    order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend a grant from the 

    Boston Planning and Development Agency in the amount not to exceed  Six 

    Million Seven Hundred Eighty Five Thousand Dollars ($6,785,000.00) for 

    the cost related to the pedestrian improvement projects on Canal Street and 

    Thoreau Path, and the bike lane connection projects between Causeway 

    Street and Commercial Street, and the planning design, and/or
