COMMUNICATIONS FROM HIS HONOR, THE MAYOR:
1000 Message and order amending Chapter 16 Section 12.3(d) of the City of Boston Code Ordinance governing advertising on free-standing signs.
Filed in the City Clerk's Office on July 10, 2017.
1001 Message and order approving appropriations of Six Hundred Thousand Dollars ($600,000.00) for the purpose of paying for the costs of a feasibility study and schematic design work associated with projects at the following schools: East Boston High School– boiler replacement, O'Donnell School K-5 – boiler replacement, Sumner School K-5 – boiler replacement, Timilty Middle School – boiler replacement, Tobin School K-8 – boiler replacement, UP Academy K-8-window replacement and the Russell School K-5- roof replacement. This includes the payment of all costs incidental or related thereto, and for which the City of Boston may be eligible for a grant from the Massachusetts School Building Authority (“MSBA”), said amount to be expended under the direction of the Public Facilities Department on behalf of the Boston Public Schools.
1002 Message and order approving an increase of the cost-of-living adjustment ("COLA") base from $13,000.00 to $14,000.00 for all retirees and beneficiaries of the Boston Retirement System.
1003 Message and order amending a grant to the City of Boston, acting through its Department of Neighborhood Development, to apply for, accept and expend an additional Four Hundred Fourteen Thousand Three Hundred Seventy Seven Dollars ($414,377.00) increasing a grant award order passed by your Honorable Body on June 21, 2017 for One Million Six Hundred Thousand Dollars ($1,600,000.00). This Order will increase the Federal Fiscal Year 2017 Emergency Solutions Grant Program to Two Million Fourteen Thousand Three Hundred Seventy Seven Dollars ($2,014,377.00) in Housing and Community Development funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
1004 Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to extend the property tax exemption for members of the Massachusetts National Guard and reservists who are serving in foreign countries, pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 59, Section 5 (56), the City of Boston shall extend the property tax exemption of up to 100% for active members of the National Guard or reservists for Fiscal Year 2018.
1005 Message and order authorizing the Police Department to accept and expend a grant of Two Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($250,000.00) from the Boston Regional Intelligence Center FY17 Allocation, awarded by the MA Executive Office of Public Safety and Security to upgrade, expand and integrate technology and protocols related to anti-terrorism, anti-crime, anti-gang and emergency response.
1006 Message and order authorizing Consumer Affairs and Licensing to accept and expend the amount of Fifty-Eight Thousand Dollars ($58,000.00) in the form a grant, for the FY18 Local Consumer Aid Fund, awarded by MA Attorney General to be administered by the Consumer Affairs & Licensing. The grant will fund the intake, resolution, and administration of consumer complaints and outreach concerning consumer topics.
