Boston Ballot Law Commission Meeting

The Boston Ballot Law Commission will hold a Meeting on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at 9 a.m. and if necessary Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at 9 a.m. at the Edward W. Brooke Courthouse 24 New Chardon Street, Boston, MA 02114.

    The Boston Ballot Law Commission will meet to hold a hearing on four objections to the eligibility of Councilor Kendra Lara (“Respondent”) for nomination to the office of District Six City Councilor based upon her residence.  It is expected that at the hearing the Objectors and Respondent, or their authorized representatives or attorneys, if any, will present documentary evidence and testimony under oath.  Chief Justice of the Boston Municipal Court, Hon. Robert Ronquillo, Jr., a member of the Boston Ballot Law Commission, will preside over the hearing. It is anticipated that the hearing will be streamlined and that the Boston Ballot Law Commission may make findings of fact and law and render a decision on the objections, all on August 1, 2023.  If the Commission has not rendered a decision on August 1, 2023, the Commission will reconvene at Courthouse at the the date and time established by the Chief Justice. For purposes of this notice, it is anticipated at this time that if the hearing is continued, it will be continued to August 2, 2023.
