INVITATION FOR BIDS
ELECTRICAL REPAIR TO PUBLIC WORKS BUILDINGS ON AN AS-NEEDED BASIS

The City of Boston, acting by its Public Works Commissioner, hereinafter is referred to as the Awarding Authority, hereby invites sealed bids for the above titled project. Invitations for bids shall be available until the time of the bid opening. Every sealed bid shall be submitted in accordance with the Invitations for Bids. All bids for this project are subject to all sections 29 and 44A-J, inclusive of Chapter 149 of the General Laws, as amended, and in accordance with the terms and provisions of the contract documents entitled: Electrical Repair Work to Public Works Buildings on an as needed basis
General Bids will be valid only when accompanied by (1) a Certificate of Eligibility issued by DCAM,
showing that the contractor has been approved in Electrical Construction to bid on projects the size and nature of that advertised, and (2) an Update Statement summarizing the general contractor's record for the period between the latest DCAM certification and the date the general contractor submits its bid.
PLANS/SPECIFICATIONS will be available on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 by appointment only. Invitation for bids shall be available until the time of the bid opening .There will be a charge of five dollars ($5) NOT REFUNDABLE, for each set of contract documents taken out. Every sealed filed not later than Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 10:00 am at the Office of the Commissioner, Public Works Room bid shall be 714.At which time the bids will be opened read aloud through a virtual meeting. Due to the current public health crisis and restrictions around gatherings, interested parties will not be able to access the building for the bid opening but will be able to view the event live through a link provided by Public Works upon receiving your bid packet. You will be sent an email with an invite to join. All bids must be from bidders of record (those who have purchased contract documents) on file at room 714, City Hall.
The attention of all bidders is directed to the Boston Residents Jobs Policy section of the specifications
and the obligation of the contractor to take affirmative action in connection with employment practices in
the performance of this contract. The contractor and its subcontractors shall maintain the following ratios of workforce hours in each trade: People of Color 25% to 40% of total workhours, Female: 10% to 12% of total workhours, Boston Residents: 50% to 51% of total workhours. Bidders are hereby notified that this project is subject to M.G.L. C. 149, s. 27 and in accordance contractors must pay prevailing wages as set by the Division of Occupational Safety within the Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
A performance bond and labor and materials payment bond satisfactory to the Awarding Authority, of a
surety company licensed to do business under the laws of the Commonwealth and included on the U.S.
Treasury current list of approved sureties (See Circular 570), in the sum of 100% of the contract price
will be required of the successful bidder. The Awarding Authority reserves the right to waive any informality in or to reject any and all bids if it is in the public interest to do so.
