City Council Recognizes Miguel Rosales Day

Miguel Rosales, an internationally renowned architect and urban designer, has helped shape Boston’s skyline and streetscape through his visionary work on iconic bridges and infrastructure. Born in Guatemala City, Rosales later earned a Master of Science in Architectural Studies from MIT before founding Rosales + Partners in Boston, where his design philosophy has blended architectural beauty with the human-scale experience of city life.

Rosales is best known as the lead architect of the Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge – an enduring symbol of Boston’s identity. His portfolio also includes the Longfellow Bridge restoration, the Frances Appleton Pedestrian Bridge, and the recently completed William Felton “Bill” Russell Bridge. His designs prioritize both visual impact and pedestrian connectivity, creating spaces that enrich daily urban life.

In addition to his architectural contributions, Rosales served for five years on the Beacon Hill Architectural Commission, including as chair. His dedication to preservation, design excellence, and community advocacy reflect the values that define civic leadership in Boston.

In recognition of his extraordinary contributions to the built environment and the city’s civic fabric, the Council declared July 9, 2025, as Miguel Rosales Day in the City of Boston.
