DESCRIPTION

Once called Eldon Street Urban Wild, this property contains a large wetland in addition to woodland and meadow areas. Private residences surround the property on nearly all sides except for formal entrances on Walter Street, Weld Street, Hazelmere Road, the intersection of Robken Road and Selwyn Street, as well as Coniston Road. The wetland helps absorb and clean storm water from the surrounding neighborhood before the water flows back into the storm water pipe system and eventually the Charles River. Two phases of capital improvement projects spanned between 2020 and 2024, resulting in a long-awaited perimeter loop trail, formalized trail segments and entrances, and substantial ecological restoration in the form of invasive plant removal and native tree, shrub, and groundcover plantings.
