Step into a transcendent afternoon of chamber music that resonates with the rich tapestry of immigrant experiences and the universal language of music. This concert, thoughtfully curated around the theme of immigration, showcases the profound contributions of immigrant composers to the world of classical music. Renee Hemsing (violin), Guy Fishman (cello), and Ian Watson (harpsichord) will take the stage to bring this story to life.

Each piece performed is a testament to the journeys, trials, and triumphs of those who have ventured far from their homelands in pursuit of their artistic passions. Throughout the afternoon, you will be transported through a diverse repertoire that spans continents and centuries, featuring works by luminaries such as George Frederic Handel, Luigi Boccherini, Jean Baptiste Lully, and Dietrich Buxtehude. Their music not only reflects their personal struggles and aspirations but also celebrates the universality of human experience.

As you immerse yourself in the exquisite harmonies and intricate melodies, you'll embark on a journey that transcends geographical boundaries and speaks directly to the heart. Night Cap Fashion and Figure Drawing features a free drawing class from the Boston Figurative Arts Center and Guest Fashion Designers.

Night Cap is an 8 night coffee lounge in Boston's City Hall this November, fostering community through art, music, and coffee.

From live house music and stand-up comedy to queer speed dating, we offer bold experiences in an inclusive alcohol-free space. Night Cap isn’t just another night out; it’s where culture and creativity meet over a cup of joe.

Night Cap will transform the lobby of Boston's iconic Brutalist City Hall in Government Center into a cozy lounge, offering soft seating, communal tables, and a rotating retail space. This unique setting will provide a warm, inviting atmosphere for attendees to gather and connect in the heart of the city.

Join Minni and CoDesign Collaborative in making a cozy quilt! Families will be guided through the making of colorful patterns with soft felt shapes, fabric glue and simple stitching techniques to make cozy quilts, perfect for snuggling up with a favorite stuffy and a cup of hot cocoa! This is a FREE event funded by the City of Boston Nightlife Economy Department’s grant program.

We will also be hosting a donation drive at the workshop! Please consider bringing a warm clothing item or blanket to donate to St. Francis House, the largest day shelter in Massachusetts supporting people experiencing homelessness and poverty. 

About Minni × CoDesign Collaborative

CoDesign Collaborative is thrilled to partner with Minni to expand access for Boston families to hands-on, design-learning workshops through the city’s Wake Up the Night initiative!

Minni's South End space will open to families for FREE evening workshops on select dates this fall. Each workshop will focus on codesign—design that centers community and collaboration. Families will enjoy creative play and messy materials while being introduced to deeper themes of design impact.

Join us for the City Hall Galleries End of Year Celebration! We will announce the six winners of the Fay Chandler Awards.

Non-Event and the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture present a free, site-responsive performance by Raven Chacon in the Great Engines Hall of Waterworks.

About the artist

Raven Chacon is a Pulitzer Prize–winning composer, performer and installation artist from Fort Defiance, Navajo Nation. As a solo artist, Chacon has exhibited, performed, or had works performed at LACMA, The Renaissance Society, San Francisco Electronic Music Festival, REDCAT, Vancouver Art Gallery, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Borealis Festival, SITE Santa Fe, Chaco Canyon, Ende Tymes Festival, and The Kennedy Center. As a member of Postcommodity from 2009-2018, he co-created artworks presented at the Whitney Biennial, documenta 14, Carnegie International 57, as well as the 2-mile long land art installation Repellent Fence.

A recording artist over the span of 22 years, Chacon has appeared on more than eighty releases on various national and international labels. His 2020 Manifest Destiny opera Sweet Land, co-composed with Du Yun, received critical acclaim from The LA Times, The New York Times, and The New Yorker, and was named 2021 Opera of the Year by the Music Critics Association of North America.

Note: the museum has limited parking, so please take public transportation or bike, if possible. The museum is a 10-minute walk from the Cleveland Circle stop on the C branch and the Reservoir stop on the D branch of the Green Line.
