The Mayor's Office of Arts and Culture and the Office of Recovery Services is partnering with RIZE Massachusetts to host free public book groups across the City in honor of National Recovery Month. This event will be held at the East Boston Branch of the Boston Public Library on Thursday, September 27, at 6:30 p.m.

The Mayor's Office of Arts and Culture and the Office of Recovery Services is partnering with RIZE Massachusetts to host free public book groups across the City in honor of National Recovery Month. This event will be held at the Jamaica Plain branch of the Boston Public Library on Saturday, September 8, at 10:30 a.m. 

The Block Party will feature a performance of Invisible: Imprints of Racism by Anna Meyer & Dancers / beheard.world in conjunction with Tread Stream and Dudley Square's Inner Sanctum. The City of Boston's Office of Housing Stability will be on hand to inform residents about their programs and services.

The event is free and open to the public, with the following scheduled activities:

2:30 PM     Community Speakers
3:00 PM     Inner City Sanctuary for the Arts
3:30 PM     Open Mic
4:30 PM     Barbeque Cook Out
5:00 PM     Performance: Invisible: Imprints of Racism

Stable Ground is an effort to address the complex relationship among chronic housing insecurity, its psychologically traumatic impact, and municipal housing policy through participatory community-based art and culture programming that is structured to inform the work of the City of Boston's Office of Housing Stability. Stable Ground is funded by a generous grant from The Kresge Foundation. 

Experience the unique charm of Rosalita’s Puppets featuring marionettes made by professional actor-puppeteer Charlotte Anne Dore. Performances start at 11 a.m.

The event is free, but young children must be accompanied by an adult.  Groups of six or more must make prior arrangements by calling the Parks Department at 617-635-4505.

The puppet performances are part of our Children's Arts and Crafts Workshops taking place on the same day from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. The event is presented by the Boston Parks and Recreation Department and sponsored by Holly and David Bruce.
