Accountability and Road Repair
If you create a temporary asphalt patch on a City street or sidewalk, you need to install a color-coded Utility Repair Tag Pavement Marker.
All utility companies, contractors, and City agencies need to use markers when performing excavation work. Permanent repairs do not need a marker.
We use the markers to make sure that:
- we hold those who leave patches after construction accountable
- the City can find out who left a patch, and
- those who leave a patch have an incentive to do a good job.
We make each tag with UV-stable plastic. The tags have letters, numbers, and a color that relates to the owner of the tag
Each private contractor that works in the City has a unique code and customer ID number printed on their green marker.
